Dr. Brendan McClafferty
Dr. Brendan McClafferty comes to Bloom Health Centers with over a decade of experience in the field of psychiatry. We are excited to welcome Dr. McClafferty to the team. As of 2025, Dr. McClafferty has authored or co-authored 11 peer-reviewed publications, which have collectively garnered 1,165 citations. Dr. McClafferty earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in December 2014, including a study abroad program at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, in Spring 2013. He went on to receive his medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) in Erie, Pennsylvania, as part of the graduate class of 2021. He then completed his Psychiatry Residency at HCA TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee graduating in June 2025.
Dr. McClafferty specializes in the treatment of acute and complex psychiatric conditions, with clinical expertise including but not limited to inpatient care, partial hospitalization programs (PHP), intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). He is dedicated to providing comprehensive, evidence-based treatment to patients across various levels of care, ensuring individualized approaches tailored to each patient's needs. His experience includes managing psychopathology including mood disorders, psychotic disorders, affective disorders, and treatment-resistant conditions, utilizing a combination of psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and interventional modalities like ECT to optimize patient outcomes.
Dr. McClafferty grew up in the Washington, D.C., area and, after years of education and training, chose to return to the region to serve the community that shaped him. Outside of medicine, he enjoys staying active through soccer, exploring new recipes in the kitchen, and spending quality time with family. He values a balanced lifestyle and believes that personal well-being plays a key role in providing the best care for his patients.
