Akili Caven, LMSW
Bloom Health Centers is excited to welcome Akili Caven to the Baltimore, MD location. Akili earned her B.A. in Print Journalism with a minor in English from Penn State in 2013. After a career in sales management, she supported women experiencing homelessness at The Mission of San Francisco through story-time activities that built connection.
Professional Background and Expertise
She earned her MSW from Columbia University School of Social Work in 2024, graduating with special recognition for her concentration in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Akili has experience in a Residential Treatment Facility with young men involved in the carceral system. She is currently pursuing an M. Ed in Sex Therapy and Sex Education at Widener University.
Akili is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and is engaged in a CBT-focused fellowship with the Department of Behavioral Health at Kennedy Krieger Institute. She also provides LGBTQ+ affirming care through DBT and CBT.

Outside of work, Akili enjoys knitting, baking, reading, playing video games and consuming media. She enjoys writing as well and considers herself a fair writer with her journalism background.
