Marissa Marinello Bumagny, LMSW
Marissa is the Community Engagement Manager at Bloom Health Centers. Marissa is passionate about mental health and community wellness. She firmly believes in advancing Bloom’s mission to expand access to compassionate mental health care and empower communities to thrive. Marissa completed her Master of Science of Social Work and Master of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin, and bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology and Arabic at Michigan State University. Marissa has spent the past five years in the DMV learning about the unique strengths and needs of her community.
Professional Background and Expertise
Marissa has been working with Bloom as a licensed mental health therapist since 2022. Her clinical background and commitment to Bloom patients serves as the foundation for her community engagement work. Prior to joining Bloom, Marissa served the DMV’s resettled refugee community as a program manager and case manager. Additional experiences include global mental health and human rights policy and advocacy work and work with resettled refugee communities in Lansing, MI. She is passionate about removing stigma and barriers to mental health access and bringing community needs to the forefront. Marissa brings a wealth of knowledge and experience on community mental health to Bloom and is dedicated to helping others on their mental health journey.
