Adeel Ahmed, MD
During his psychiatry residency at Central Michigan University, Dr. Ahmed served in multiple leadership and academic roles. He was appointed Chief Resident in his final year and chaired the department’s Didactics Committee, helping shape the educational curriculum for trainees. As a case writer for the Simulation Lab, he contributed to the development of clinical training materials. He also participated in the Liaison Committee on Medical Education and was an active member of the Social Media Committee, promoting departmental engagement and visibility. In recognition of his contributions, he received the program’s Leadership and Advocacy Award. Dr. Ahmed is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Adeel Ahmed began his academic journey at Purdue University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2014. He went on to pursue his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine, graduating with honors with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 2020.
Following medical school, Dr. Ahmed completed a four-year residency in General Psychiatry at Central Michigan University from 2020 to 2024, where he gained broad clinical experience across diverse psychiatric settings and served as Chief Resident.
To further specialize in the intersection of medicine and psychiatry, he pursued advanced subspecialty training through a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, which he completed in 2025. This fellowship solidified his expertise in managing complex psychiatric presentations in medically ill patients, and prepared him for work in high-acuity inpatient and hospital-based consultation roles.
Dr. Ahmed is a board-certified psychiatrist who has trained across diverse settings including medical/surgical floors, emergency departments, inpatient psychiatry (standard, high-acuity, and state hospital), and outpatient care encompassing general psychiatry, psychotherapy, and subspecialty clinics in women’s mental health, pain management, gastrointestinal disorders, neuropsychiatry, sleep medicine, transplant psychiatry, and psycho-oncology.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Ahmed is passionate about living a well-rounded and active life. He’s a longtime automotive enthusiast, enjoys weightlifting, and has a love for travel and photography, often capturing moments from his hikes and culinary adventures.
