Naina Shahi-Virk, DNP, PMHNP-BC

Naina Shahi-Virk comes to Bloom Health Centers to support the expansion of mental health care access within the Virginia region. Naina is a proud member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. This prestigious organization is awarded to those who have excelled in their field of study and demonstrated a strong commitment to academic achievement, clinical excellence, and leadership within the nursing profession. Membership in Sigma Theta Tau reflects her dedication to advancing the standards of nursing and delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. Naina began her nursing journey by earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2017. Following graduation, Ms. Shahi-Virk gained foundational experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in both family practice and medical-surgical settings, where she developed strong clinical skills and a comprehensive understanding of patient care across the lifespan.
Over the past three years, Naina has specialized in working with children and adolescents in the mental health field. Previously, Naina joined Newport Healthcare, a nationally recognized residential treatment center, where she provided care to youth experiencing complex emotional and behavioral challenges. This experience solidified her passion for working with young people, particularly those facing substance use disorders.
Motivated to make a greater impact, Naina became actively involved in the development and launch of an Adolescent Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) clinic—an innovative program addressing the growing need for youth-centered addiction services. This opportunity allowed her to combine clinical care with program development and expand her skills in adolescent substance use treatment.
For the past year and a half, Ms. Shahi-Virk has been working at Youth For Tomorrow, a youth residential facility that offers therapeutic and rehabilitative services to at-risk youth. In this role, Naina continues to support children and adolescents struggling with mental health and substance use issues through trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches.
To further enhance her clinical expertise and leadership in psychiatric care, Naina pursued and obtained my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a specialization as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from George Washington University in 2025. This advanced training has prepared Naina to deliver high-quality, holistic mental health care to individuals across the lifespan, with a continued focus on underserved and adolescent populations.
Naina specializes on child and adolescent mental health, though she is fully trained and licensed to provide psychiatric care across the lifespan. Ms. Shahi-Virk has extensive experience working with children, teens, and their families in both outpatient and residential settings. Her clinical focus includes the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of mental health conditions such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), mood disorders, bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder, and substance use disorders. In her clinical practice, Naina offers comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, psychoeducation, and individualized treatment planning. Naina takes a trauma-informed, holistic approach and collaborate closely with families, schools, and other care providers to support the overall well-being of her patients. Naina is particularly passionate about early intervention and helping youth build the skills they need to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.
Outside of her professional life, Naina deeply values balance and connection. She enjoys taking long walks with her dogs, which gives her time to reflect and recharge. Spending quality time with her family is also incredibly important and keeps Naina grounded.
