Elizabeth Canady, LPC

I received my bachelor's degree in Kinesiology in 2013 from James Madison University. I specialized in the study of the body's movement, where I began my Personal Training career, which I did for 8 years. I specifically worked with adult women and women who had previously been caught up in human trafficking through gentle movement training and guided mindfulness techniques and meditations. I then shifted into the mental health field, pursuing and completing my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. I grew in my experience and knowledge in this field by working as a Behavioral Health Specialist for the geriatric population in elderly care facilities, where I provided emotional therapeutic support and tracked cognitive decline through differing assessments given.

Elizabeth focuses on feeling, dealing, and healing from the inside-out, empowering clients in their life journeys through using a client-led therapeutic style from Person-Centered Therapy. My main priority is to create a safe and supportive space for the client to be authentic and talk openly to help the client discover their own solutions. Ultimately promoting autonomy, self-exploration, and personal growth. All the while fostering a sense of acceptance and unconditional love. This approach benefits those who struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties. Other approaches integrated into my therapy sessions would be Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-based stress reductions, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Elizabeth enjoys working with adolescents, young adults, and older adult populations. Based on personal knowledge and experience, an enlightened passion has blossomed in helping those who have been or are currently struggling with intimate partner violence. Intimate partner violence refers to behaviors within an intimate relationship that cause physical, sexual, or psychological harm.

Elizabeth shares her most fulfilling roles in this life are being a wife to a kind and selfless man who is a police officer and being a mother to two wildly amazing children. She also thoroughly enjoys working out by lifting weights and running and writing in her journal for fun and to help herself heal. She shares her motto is, "I am embracing this journey of life and being a lover of learning in all things messy and beautiful!".

Alicia is an inclusive provider who uses a person-centered approach, working in partnership with her patients to develop and maintain their care plan. She offers medication management with supportive psychotherapy, drawing from multiple therapeutic approaches to best fit each person's needs.
