Conditions Treated by Towson NeuroStar TMS Therapy
(heading 1)
NeuroStar TMS therapy is FDA-cleared for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults. We typically recommend it when your depression has not improved sufficiently with antidepressant medications. This means you may still feel low mood, loss of interest, or fatigue despite trying other treatments.
Research shows that TMS targets specific areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. Over time, repeated sessions may support healthier brain activity patterns linked to depression symptoms. At Bloom Health Centers, we determine whether NeuroStar TMS is appropriate for you based on clinical guidelines and your overall mental health needs, and our goal is to ensure that any treatment option fits you as a person, not just your diagnosis.
Approved and Common Uses of NeuroStar TMS Therapy
The FDA has cleared NeuroStar TMS therapy specifically for people aged 15 and older with major depressive disorder who have not experienced sufficient improvement from antidepressant medications. Researchers studied TMS therapy in individuals who did not improve from standard antidepressant medication, which is the first-line therapy for treating depression. Multiple clinical studies have shown NeuroStar TMS can reduce depressive symptoms for many people who failed to see improvement from medication.
When it comes to mental health conditions that can be treated by NeuroStar TMS at our Towson location, depression remains the primary indication, and insurance coverage is generally tied to this diagnosis. Additionally, NeuroStar TMS therapy has been cleared to treat anxious depression, as well as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
At Bloom Health Centers, we take a careful and ethical approach. Our clinicians explain what is FDA-cleared, what researchers are still studying, and what that means for you. We ensure that you have clear information so you can make informed decisions about your mental health needs.
