How NeuroStar TMS Therapy in Rockville Works

NeuroStar Logo

Understanding how NeuroStar TMS therapy in Rockville works can help you make an informed decision about whether it is right for you. The figure-eight coil we use during NeuroStar transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) treatments precisely stimulates your brain’s mood circuits without anesthesia, so you can drive home just minutes after your sessions. Each one lasts for less than 20 minutes, fitting seamlessly into your schedule between errands or work calls.

Because we are an in-network provider, we will verify your insurance coverage before scheduling your sessions. You will not receive any surprise bills. Our comfortable treatment rooms and skilled medical professionals will create a calming atmosphere from day one, and a short orientation will demystify the process before your treatments begin.

Conditions That NeuroStar TMS Addresses

During your consultation, our Rockville team can explain how they adapt NeuroStar TMS protocols to treat mental health conditions such as stubborn depression. After we thoroughly evaluate you, we will determine the appropriate coil placement and magnetic pulse frequency for your specific diagnosis. The conditions we treat with NeuroStar TMS are FDA-cleared and include:

  • Major depressive disorder (MDD) (including for adolescents 15 and up)
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Anxious depression

Your NeuroStar TMS Therapy Experience at Bloom Health Centers

When our patients want to know how long their NeuroStar TMS treatment courses need to be in order to work effectively, we tell them about seven weeks (or six weeks for OCD). During each session, you will sit in a comfortable chair as we place the NeuroStar coil against your head. You will hear clicking sounds and feel rhythmic tapping on your scalp but will remain fully alert. Many of our clients listen to music or podcasts to pass the time. Real-time sensors will monitor the coil’s position, adjusting automatically if you shift slightly. You may feel mild scalp tingling that usually fades within minutes after your treatment, allowing you to immediately return to your daily tasks. We offer flexible start times—including lunch-hour options—to accommodate varied schedules.
