Bloom Health Centers (Bloom), the Mid-Atlantic’s largest in-network, outpatient, multidisciplinary mental health treatment practice, today announced the expansion of its executive management team with the appointment of Peter van Riper as Chief Financial Officer.

“Great companies are built with great people and Peter is one of those people,” said President of Bloom Health Centers, Lorraine Riche. “Peter is not only an incredibly accomplished healthcare executive, but he also has a personal passion for mental health services. He has demonstrated high-impact scaling strategies and skills that Bloom believes will be vital to disrupting, innovating, and advancing care in the industry, so that together, we can achieve Bloom’s mission – to create a world where no one feels alone.”

With the addition of Mr. van Riper, Bloom’s management team continues its mission to reinvent behavioral health for greater access and improved outcomes for patients, through dramatically-improved patient and provider experience.

“To truly transform the future of mental health services in the face of skyrocketing demand and to provide creative approaches to delivering care and covering costs, it’s going to take an excellent team committed to innovating the industry,” continued Riche. “Peter is a thought leader with more than twenty years of experience in finance, strategy, and operations, and we are confident he will help Bloom navigate the complexities of expertly providing care while eliminating barriers.”

The addition of top talent like Mr. van Riper strengthens Bloom’s position as a capable, forward-thinking leader in the mental healthcare movement, as the company pledges to accept all insurances and provide patients a unique, “never alone” collaborative care team model. Coupled with proprietary technology and advanced therapies, Bloom delivers patients easier access to more integrated mental health services – overdue in an industry where the typical, siloed approach often prevents people from the custom care they need.

“I’m thrilled to join Bloom and be a part of this movement to help transform both the industry and the lives of patients,” said Mr. van Riper. “I look forward to helping our medical providers keep doing what they do best, removing the hurdles that would prevent them from serving our patients with the highest quality of care.”

Mr. van Riper joins Bloom from Kinsa Health, Inc., where he served as CFO. His experience spans more than two decades designing, launching, and managing businesses through rapid growth, followed by both private transactions and IPOs. As Co-Founder and CFO of Peak Dental Services, LLC, Mr. van Riper oversaw the dramatic growth of the dental service organization from 2014 to 2020, culminating in a sale of the company. He also has been involved in the leadership, development, and commercial success of numerous other companies, largely in health care.

This announcement comes on the heels of news that Comprehensive Behavioral Health and Psych Associates of Maryland merged to form Bloom.
