How TMS Treatment Can Help With MDD

NeuroStar TMS therapy uses focused magnetic pulses to stimulate mood-regulating regions of the brain. The stimulation is targeted so it does not circulate through the body the way medication often does. Many MDD patients in Arlington choose NeuroStar TMS treatments after experiencing limited benefits and challenging side effects with prior medications or because they prefer a non-systemic option.

This therapy typically lasts seven weeks, with daily sessions at about 19 minutes each. Sessions build on one another to encourage healthier brain activity patterns over time. You remain awake and seated during treatment, and you are able to return to regular activities immediately after each visit. Our clinicians track your progress and adjust parameters when appropriate so that your care remains responsive.

Candidacy, Access, and Insurance Coverage for Your TMS Therapy

You may be a good fit for TMS treatment at our Arlington location if you have a diagnosis of major depressive disorder and have not had adequate relief with medications and psychotherapy. We review your health history, your prior treatments, and your goals to confirm safety and suitability, then we outline a schedule that supports your work, school, and family routines. Bloom Health Centers is one of the area’s largest in-network practices, which helps many patients use their insurance benefits for TMS therapy. Coverage details vary by plan, carrier, and state. Our knowledgeable intake team verifies your benefits, explains any prior authorization steps, and provides a clear view of expected out-of-pocket costs before you begin treatment.

What To Expect During Depression Treatment for NeuroStar

We focus on clarity and comfort during your treatment session. A trained clinician measures and maps your treatment location, positions the device, and stays with you throughout the session. People often describe the TMS as feeling like a tapping sensation on the scalp. No anesthesia is involved, so you can return to your day soon after each appointment.

Between TMS sessions for MDD, our Arlington team checks in with you to document any changes in mood, motivation, sleep, and concentration. These touchpoints help us keep your care precise and aligned with how you are feeling each week.
