Is NeuroStar TMS Right for You?

Individuals who are good candidates for NeuroStar TMS therapy have a diagnosis of major depressive disorder and have not experienced enough improvement with antidepressant medications. We often consider NeuroStar TMS when medication causes side effects, stops working, or does not provide the level of relief you hoped for. Our clinicians at Bloom Health Centers carefully review your treatment history, symptoms, and goals to ensure this option aligns with your individual mental health needs.

NeuroStar TMS is a non-invasive treatment that uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate specific areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. You do not need anesthesia, sedation, or surgery. You remain awake and alert during each session, and you can return to daily activities right after. We understand concerns about discomfort, but most people describe the feeling as a light tapping on the scalp that becomes easier to tolerate over time.

Medical Conditions and Implants

Certain medical conditions may affect whether someone in Towson, MD is a candidate for NeuroStar TMS. During your intake appointment, we will review your medical history, including any metal implants or neurological conditions, to ensure treatment is safe and appropriate. We also discuss your daily schedule, since TMS requires multiple sessions over several weeks. Our team works with you to create a plan that fits into your routine as smoothly as possible.

How NeuroStar TMS Can Help

When you explore whether you might be an ideal patient for neurostimulation to treat depression or OCD, you will want to know what to expect. We typically schedule treatment five days a week for about seven to nine weeks. Each session is only about 20 minutes, and we work with you to fit appointments into your routine. Over time, repeated stimulation supports healthier activity in mood-related brain pathways.

Many people report gradual improvements in mood, motivation, sleep, and focus during treatment. These changes typically build steadily rather than appearing all at once. At Bloom Health Centers, we monitor your progress throughout treatment, check in regularly to understand how you are feeling, and adjust support as needed so you feel guided every step of the way.
