Patricia earned her A.A.S. in Health Science in 2009, followed by a B.S. in Health System Policy & Administration in 2010 and a B.S. in Nursing in 2017. She completed her M.S. in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2023 and is currently pursuing graduate studies in Health Administration and a doctorate at George Mason University

Professional Background and Expertise

Patricia Achama, Nurse Practitioner, comes to Bloom Health Centers to support expanding access to care across the Mid-Atlantic region. Patricia began her education by receiving her associate’s degree in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College focused on Health Science. Following that she received her first bachelor’s degree in health system policy & administration from George Mason University in 2010. Subsequently Patricia went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Stratford University in 2017. Most recently, in 2023 Patricia earned her Master of Science in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree from Walden University in Minneapolis. Patricia Achama has a deep passion for continuing education and professional growth. Which has led her to continue her education through the University of Maryland Global Campus as a graduate student in health administration. Additionally, Patricia is attending George Mason University as a doctoral student.

As a person with a deep desire to continue to learn and grow, Patricia’s professional experiences support her extension from the classroom. Patricia has served many roles in her career thus far ranging from move in coordinator in assisted living facilities to being a registered nurse at a variety of assisted care facilities. During her nursing career she has worked with Inova in Fairfax, VA, obtaining many roles, such as a Charge Nurse, Supervisor, and Preceptor. Patricia remained with Inova for over 6 years and has been recognized for her dedication to the community. For a short time, Patricia worked as an Emergency Room Psych Evaluator at Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, MD. Lastly, Patricia served as an adjunct faculty as a clinical instructor for mental health at Georgetown and George Mason University through Spring of 2025. Patricia’s extensive history and background has given her an immense amount of knowledge to continue to expand and grow making her a great fit for Bloom Health Centers.

Patricia works with individuals who are suffering from all types of mental health struggles from anxiety and depression to PTSD or trauma. Patricia is equipped to support the community with high acuity levels and improving the well-being of patients across the Mid-Atlantic.
