Depression Treatment

Depression affects millions of adults and teenagers and even though mental health awareness is growing within society, depression can still be a lonely and isolating struggle. At Bloom Health Centers, we strive to help individuals through medication and therapy to manage their symptoms and leave their depression behind.

What Is Depression?

Depression is a mood disorder that causes persistent sadness, fatigue, hopelessness, and loss of interest. Individuals who are struggling with this condition can experience some or all of the symptoms associated with it. Many factors can cause depression, including genetics and trauma. In some cases, another mental or physical health disorder can result in someone developing depression. Different forms of this condition can even have triggers related to childbirth and the seasons.

How Do I Know If It’s More Than Sadness?

When you have undiagnosed depression, it can be hard to tell if you have a legitimate condition. Some individuals with depression worry that they don’t have an illness but just an overreaction to sad feelings. If you’ve experienced symptoms for two weeks or longer, you could receive a diagnosis of depression. Individuals who have depression find that their mood and low energy interfere with their daily functioning. For example, you might notice yourself getting less work done or sleeping for a shorter or longer time than usual.

We encourage anyone who feels that they may need help to come to us for behavioral health services and depression treatment. Our experts can diagnose and treat your symptoms in a judgment-free environment. Whether you have depression or a combination of disorders, we can find a solution together.

What Can Bloom Do to Help Individuals With Depression?

Treatment for depression at Bloom includes the following services:

  • Therapy: During therapy for depression, a licensed therapist will work with you to understand your symptoms and behaviors. They’ll provide psychoeducation and explore your thoughts and behavior patterns with you to help you understand and challenge both in a safe environment.
  • Medication: Your psychiatrist may prescribe you an antidepressant to relieve your symptoms. These medications come in many types, and you’ll receive plenty of support during treatment to find the right choice.
  • Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS): TMS therapy involves the use of magnetic fields to stimulate brain cells. This non-invasive procedure uses a magnetic coil placed on the scalp to send pulses to the affected area. TMS has been shown to help individuals with depression where medication may not have worked.
