Professional Background and Expertise

Dr. Todd Bernsohn earned his undergraduate degree from Towson University in Maryland in 2007. He began his medical career providing patient care for many years in a Level 1 Trauma Center Emergency Department. After deciding he wanted to further his medical knowledge, he returned to academia to complete the Master of Physician Assistant Medicine (MPAM) program at the University of Lynchburg in VA, graduating in 2021. Building on this foundation, Dr. Bernsohn went on to earn his Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) with a focus in psychiatry from the University of Lynchburg. After completing a fellowship in psychiatry in 2022, he decided he wanted to focus on addressing substance use and the ongoing opioid epidemic, taking on a role as the sole medical prescriber at an outpatient treatment center, overseeing comprehensive care for patients with substance use and various co-occurring mental health disorders.
