Rachel is a Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy with specialized training in systemic, trauma-informed, and community-based mental health care. She earned her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University in 2024, graduating with a 4.0 GPA, and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Criminology from James Madison University. She also holds a Certificate in Substance Abuse Treatment.

Professional Background and Expertise

Rachel’s clinical experience includes providing individual, couples, family, and group therapy through internships at the Appalachian State University Wellness & Prevention Center and Daymark Recovery Services, with a focus on addiction recovery, emotional regulation, and relational well-being. She has contributed to research on adolescent anger and aggression and held leadership roles within student professional organizations.

She is currently completing her post-graduate residency at Winchester Community Mental Health Center in the Developmental Approach to Trauma and Attachment (DATA) Program, supporting youth, adults, and families navigating trauma and complex systemic stressors. Her background also includes community-based services and ABA-informed behavioral work.

I specialize in trauma therapy, family therapy and couples counseling, helping partners and families strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and create healthier ways of relating. My work is grounded in systemic theory, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and cognitive-behavioral approaches, allowing me to support clients through conflict, attachment injuries, and patterns that keep them feeling stuck.  I also assist families navigating trauma, parenting challenges, co-parenting dynamics, and significant life transitions. My approach is collaborative, structured, and trauma-informed, with a strong emphasis on emotional safety, clarity, and practical skill-building.  I provide:  Couples Counseling  Family Therapy  Parent Coaching and Support  Individual Therapy for relational concerns  My goal is to help families and couples create meaningful, sustainable change by deepening understanding, improving communication, and strengthening connection.
