Education & Experience
After completing her Bachelor's Degree at James Madison University, Shanti Chang began her career as a Pediatric and Intensive Care Nurse. A few years down the road, she made the decision to return to school and pursue her Doctorate as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Following her graduation, she delved into the world of pediatric primary care, where she discovered her deep passion for providing healthcare to those without easy access to it. Shanti's journey led her to collaborate with a dedicated team to establish an extension site of the Mason and Partners Clinics (MAP Clinics). Their goal was to offer free pediatric services to uninsured children in Fairfax County. Simultaneously, she worked alongside other clinics to broaden the scope of pediatric services, all while transitioning into a full-time academic role. Since becoming a full-time member of the George Mason University community, Shanti has taken on various faculty and administrative positions, including roles as the Family and Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Doctoral Director. Presently, she serves as the Masters in Nursing Division Director in the School of Nursing.

A Little Bit About Me
"Amidst the hustle and bustle of life, I have a handful of cherished hobbies that bring me solace and balance. I relish spending time with my family, including the wonderful bonus children I've had the privilege of fostering, whether it's enjoying outdoor adventures together or sharing cozy dinners. Reading transports me to new worlds and broadens my horizons, while running, although not always my favorite, keeps me physically and mentally in sync. Lastly, singing is my creative outlet, a means to express my emotions and connect with my inner self."
