About
While working in the mental health field, Shaina quickly realized that her education isn’t the most important component of her therapy. Despite your presenting symptoms, your life may be vastly different than any other person she has met. Therefore, she has learned the most valuable part of therapy is getting to know you fully, and creating an atmosphere where you feel most comfortable allowing Shaina to do just that. She provides a safe and supportive environment to assist with building trust and allowing for open and honest communication. Shaina is a firm believer that no one knows you and what will work for you, better than you. She is here to guide her patients towards finding the missing links to connect the dots in understanding themselves better, develop skills to help manage and mitigate troublesome symptoms, improve interpersonal relationships, boost self-confidence, and live a more fulfilling life. In your sessions, you can expect to laugh, cry, vent, dissect, and strategize.
Shaina utilizes components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to work towards creating solutions and enhancing your strengths. She enjoys working with adults, especially those transitioning to new stages in their life. Her areas of experience with several diagnoses come from her time working in community mental health, in-home therapy with adolescents, and inpatient hospital mental health. As of recently, her work has been with women with depression, anxiety, ADHD, maternal health, bipolar disorder, trauma, and grief.
Mental health is an area that impacts us all. Shaina believes it is the most important aspect of our health because it influences the amount of care, effort, and resources we can apply to all other areas of our life. She enjoys being a witness to the moments people’s lives become a little easier or more fulfilling as a result of improved mental health. My “why” behind what Shaina does started as an interest in psychology and has transformed into a deeply personal experience of supporting those closest to her and those she has yet to meet.
