About
Mike is a psychotherapist with 12 years of experience in human services. He works with individuals, couples, and families in both a one-on-one and group setting. He specializes in trauma, where he utilizes a variety of different modalities that focus on the mind-body connection. Mike regularly incorporates EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and somatic practices, along with cognitive-based work to create a holistic understanding of an individual's experience. He has a passion for exploring neuro-functioning and its relationship to our behaviors.
After working in a neurology clinic, which specialized in traumatic brain injuries, he gained a greater appreciation for brain functioning. Through neuro-based approaches, such as the Neuro Sequential Model, we can gain a better understanding of the brain and how awareness and mindfulness can support us in the resolution of personal and relational obstacles.
Mike has vast experience working with veterans and those who have experienced complex physical and psychological trauma. He believes the role of a therapist is to help guide and support the person in navigating their human experience. He has a passion for being that support.
Education & Experience
Mike earned his undergraduate degree from Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont. He graduated from the Tulane School of Social Work in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mike has a certification in Trauma and Disaster Mental Health from Tulane School of Social Work. He was a Lead Clinician at the Johns Hopkins Neurology Clinic.
