Elera has specialized in family medicine and psychiatry, offering her expertise and compassionate care to a broad spectrum of patients, ranging from geriatrics and adults to adolescents and pediatrics.

Her current professional passion is firmly centered on the delivery of exceptional psychiatric care to individuals spanning the entire lifespan. Elera's dedication extends to geriatric, adult, adolescent, and pediatric populations, where she focuses primarily on diagnosing and treating a wide range of mental health conditions. Her expertise encompasses disorders such as ADHD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia, and many others. During her time at the VA, Elera cared for a patient with severe psychotic symptoms and aggressive behavior. With diligent treatment, they stabilized the patient's condition, leading to his gratitude and transformation. This experience, alongside the growing prevalence of mental health challenges, motivated Elera to exclusively focus on psychiatric medicine as a Physician Assistant. Witnessing patients regain their functionality through mental health treatment solidified her commitment to this field.

Education & Experience

Elera Nwogu, DMSc, MPH, PA-C, embarked on an impressive educational journey. She began by graduating with honors from Howard University in 2001, achieving a Double Major in the Physician Assistant Program and Primary Care Certification. Her commitment to healthcare continued as she earned a Master's Degree in Public Health (MPH) from Walden University in 2015. Elera's educational journey reached its pinnacle in March 2023 when she proudly graduated from the University of Lynchburg, Virginia, with a Doctor of Medical Sciences Degree (DMSc). These accomplishments reflect her dedication to healthcare and her commitment to advancing the field of medicine and public health.

Elera obtained a Certification in Women's Affairs in October 2013 from the Washington, DC Women's Clinic. She holds the distinction of being a proud recipient of the Howard University Board of Trustee Scholarship Award from 1998 to 2001. In recognition of her academic achievements and contributions, she was inducted into the Howard University and Nationwide "Who Is Who" Honor Society in 1999. Additionally, Elera is an esteemed member of the National Society of Allied Health Epsilon Tau Sigma, further demonstrating her dedication to excellence in the field of healthcare.
