Dr. Lepoutre is interested in the mind-body connection and the interface between Internal Medicine and Psychiatry. She considers one’s mental health to relate at least in part to one’s physical health and is interested in exploring such connections. Dr. Lepoutre believes that pronounced improvements to both mental and physical health can be achieved through regular outpatient follow-ups in conjunction with therapy and medication management if indicated.
Dr. Lepoutre finds significant gratification in helping her patients achieve improvements in their overall well-being. She has observed that these improvements can often be sustained through using medication, however, there are times that stopping and/or tapering down one or more of the medications that had previously been prescribed is what is most helpful. She carefully works with her patients to establish the correct combination of medication, therapy, and lifestyle changes based on what they personally need to experience improved outcomes that are sustainable.
Education & Experience
Dr. Lepoutre completed her dual training at the Medical University of South Carolina where she served as chief resident and participated in many leadership programs within the hospital. She completed her undergraduate degree at Georgetown University.
