Brenda is a Licensed Master Social Worker who received a Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore. She has a wide variety of experiences in the field from working with adolescents to older adults and has worked in outpatient settings such as primary care clinics and group homes. Brenda has experience providing individual therapy and facilitating group therapy and specializes in working with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, adjustment reactions/disorders, stress, life transitions, grief/loss & trauma-related issues. She often utilizes a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing & person-centered therapy in my approach to treatment in helping clients process their feelings and behaviors. Brenda believes in a holistic approach to therapy and helping clients identify internal and external factors that can create awareness within themselves. She uses a strengths-based approach to help clients identify coping mechanisms and makes the best decisions best suited for them. She has deep respect for all cultures and has awareness of societal and systemic challenges that many face and takes that into account when serving clients of different backgrounds. Brenda believes that respecting clients’ self-determination as well as building rapport is the perfect recipe for creating a safe space, where an authentic and trustworthy therapeutic relationship can flourish.
