About

Adriana made her start working as a Licensed Social Worker in foster care, advocating for and protecting vulnerable youth in Maryland communities. In this experience, she gained vital insight into the challenges families face – not only the trauma and disruption children face but the struggles of their natural families who work to overcome their obstacles or never get the strength to do so. During this enlightenment, she pursued her master’s degree in social work and was accepted into an advanced program.

Adriana gained experience working in crisis response and fell in love with therapy. She loved her experience in child welfare but it was therapy that provided her the opportunity to do more than place a band-aid and refer to the next step. She was instrumental in helping others. Dominican-born and native Spanish speaker, Adriana came to this country through adoption as a young child.

A Little Bit About Me

Married to her childhood sweetheart, she is a mother of four beautiful children and dog mom to two ginormous Great Danes. She is an avid reader and considers herself a very hopeful (but not skilled) crafter which results in many not-so-attractive projects that are alas filled with love and effort. While her husband was in the Marines, her family lived in multiple places across the country. She has a strong love of not only her Hispanic Island culture but of so many of the regions we’ve had the pleasure of living in. Adriana loves to travel to meet new people and immerse herself in how others live. She believes it’s the heart that bridges us across cultures.
